Just trying to get an idea of how much you guys are paying for insurance on your Ducati. I’m 25, had motorcycle license for 6 years now and have Geico at $76 for full coverage with $500 deductibles. Bike is 2010 Streetfighter 1098. All the other companies with what I’m paying with Geico are 3,4,5 and even 7x of that quoted me.Not cheap either, still likely an insurance claim. But cheaper than the Ducati. The maintenance isn't bad, the SuperSport's valve intervals are 18,000 miles vs 15,000 miles on the SV-650. You can do the oil changes on either at home if you want. Or find a local Ducati shop that is cheaper than the dealership.

My comment was more about things breaking in general. I know that chains are quite robust. But random bad stuff just happens in racing. I blew a gearbox up going into a 100 mph corner and luckily didn't drop it in the oil. I remember when someone's carbon fiber swing arm disintegrated years back (Ducati superbike I think).2 very different bikes. The 1198 with trellis frame and dry clutch is a hoot to ride. However the dry clutch will make your hand go numb in a hour. Not meant for city traffic. The 1199 has better electronics but it's too torquey. Also the first production 1199 has some gremlins. The later year models are better.Utter dominance in many of those years. The Ducati GP22 is nowhere near as dominant, it's certainly the best MotoGP bike, but the difference between the fastest and slowest MotoGP bike is often 1.2 seconds ( From Pecco to Raul Fernández on most weekends), compared that to 2 to 3 seconds in F1.About Community. If the choice is Speed Triple of 1100 Evo, Speed Triple all day long with my money. Street vs 1100 Evo, I'd go Evo but understand that Triumph maintenance in those years is closer to Japanese bike maintenance. The Ducati will require more attention and more expensive service costs. Belts you can do yourself without much effort.Ergos: this is mostly preference, but I would give edge to the Scrambler. The ergos are a little more forgiving and therefore more versatile. It likely would be more comfortable overall and also on longer rides or 2-up. The monster is more aggressive for sure, but that might be what you want. Looks: both are fantastic. Ducatis are expensive because Ducati is a much, much smaller company than any of the Japanese 4. For comparison, Ducati sold something like 10,000 bikes in the US last year. In the last fiscal year Honda sold 250,000. Ducati simply can't take advantage of the economies of scale that the Japanese manufacturers can. ….
